About Daisy Velez, PsyD, PMH-C

As a clinical health psychologist, I specialize in addressing the intricate connection between psychological factors and medical conditions in adults (18+). My focus areas include:

• Perinatal mood, anxiety, trauma, and adjustment disorders and fertility challenges
• Psychological trauma from physical injury or hospitalization
• Insomnia/circadian rhythm disorders
• Chronic pain and gastrointestinal concerns
• Adjustment to illness/ related changes in physical abilities
• Behavioral weight management, binge-eating, night eating syndrome
• Preparation for/adjustment following surgical procedures (e.g., bariatrics/transplants)
• Clinical hypnosis for medical conditions (e.g., pain, symptoms related to cancer treatment, and IBS)

I tailor evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Mindfulness, Schema Therapy and Clinical Hypnosis. I have worked with active military and veterans, and I completed additional training to become a Star Behavioral Health Provider. I am also certified in lifestyle medicine through the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and in perinatal mental health (PMH) through Postpartum Support International. Specific to PMH, I have worked in medical hospitals (mother & baby, labor & deliver, and neonatal intensive units) as well as in outpatient fertility and psychotherapy clinics. I have also completed additional training through the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. My clinical experience and additional training reflect my commitment to providing compassionate, knowledgeable, and specialized care to those experiencing medical concerns.
