About Alexis Buckheit, LPC, LCPC, PMH-C
Alexis is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Supervisor, and the Clinical Director at Balanceworks Counseling. Alexis believes that the therapeutic relationship is key in creating lasting change, and she prioritizes creating a space where you can feel safe, supported, and truly understood.
In therapy, Alexis shows up as her authentic self - bringing warmth, energy, and even a little laughter to sessions. She believes humor can be a powerful tool in therapy, especially as we navigate difficult emotions and challenges.
Alexis takes a holistic, collaborative, and flexible approach. She tailors her methods to meet each client’s unique needs, integrating a person-centered approach with tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and bottom-up trauma processing techniques.
She specializes in eating disorders, perinatal mental health, trauma, anxiety, depression, body image issues, relationship struggles, and life transitions.
As a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Provider (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International, she has specialized training in supporting individuals during pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood. She recognizes the perinatal period as a uniquely vulnerable and important time, and this certification reflects advanced training in identifying and treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders using evidence-based care. This allows Alexis to provide thoughtful, attuned support tailored to the specific emotional and physical challenges of this life event.
