Neldina (Nelly) Hutchinson, LCSW-C

Nelly Hutchinson LCSW-C is the founder and owner of Healing Awaits, LLC, a private practice specializing in trauma and perinatal mental health. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Penn State University and her Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University.

Nelly has been specializing in trauma since 2018 and is nationally certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Her therapeutic approach is also informed by training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and a person-centered philosophy that emphasizes collaboration and empowerment.

Nelly completed Advanced Perinatal Mental Health training through Postpartum Support International. She specializes in supporting individuals navigating fertility challenges, pregnancy, birth trauma, and the postpartum period. Lastly, Nelly is a board-approved supervisor for both the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners and the Board of Professional Counselors.

Nelly’s practice and approach is rooted in warmth, compassion, empowerment, and collaboration. She has a passion for working with marginalized communities and practices in an anti-racist and LGBTQIA+ affirming way. Nelly focuses on helping her clients meet their treatment goals through psychotherapy, skill building, and empowerment.
