About Rachel Schechter LICSW
I have had the honor of practicing psychotherapy for over fifteen years. My background in psychology and clinical social work provide me with a non-judgemental, eclectic approach to my work. I borrow from my training in a variety of modalities including CBT, mindfulness, and psychodynamics.
I have worked in centers and agencies focused on college-aged students and community mental health. I treat a variety of issues including but not limited to depression, anxiety, life transitions, loss and grief, perinatal issues, and relationships.
I work with adults aged eighteen and older, as well as with families and couples. Additionally, I have a passion and expertise in women's mental health including issues related to fertility and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADS). I currently work with a non-profit specializing in education and support for new mothers called PACE (pacemoms.org). I have volunteered with Postpartum International, and was part of Mary's Center “Perinatal Mental Health Champions” which is a program aimed at sharing information and educating the Washington, DC community about PMADS. I am the Educational Chair on the board of The DC Metro Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative.
